Why are EA reviewing the lock houses?
As part of the national Funding Strategy it has been necessary to look at all EA resources, costs and income. For the Thames an important part of this is our housing stock. At the same time the national Accommodation Strategy is looking at the Environment Agency’s buildings to check that all those it retains are operationally justified. EA therefore need to be able to present a strong case to justify the retention and cost of lockhouses in Thames region and their use of public funds in maintaining them. What type see What Smoke alarm to use?If you have a solid fuel stove please see the document "solid Fuel stoves" in the Library

Richmond Lock
Despite what I said at the supper about the future working hours of Richmond Lock, I learnt recently at the PLA Consultative Meeting for the Upper River that the proposed work on the barrier was cancelled four days before it was due to be signed off. Service of the lock and barrier will remain exactly the same as currently into next year. Now doubt I will learn more at the Chief Harbour Masters Recreation meeting next year. Michael Shefras.
The RYA is launching a new internet TV channel – RYA TV - on Monday 19 November.
With a new programme scheduled every six weeks, RYA TV aims to bring members and website visitor news, comment, views and issues on the work of the RYA, directly from us, the people who are doing it. Produced in partnership with online TV channel Yachting TV, RYA TV will be available to view through www.rya.org.uk and at www.yachtingtv.co.uk.
